A jail is an institution or place where the culprits of violations are kept as a discipline so that on the one hand the society is not as it were free from such people but moreover other individuals can learn from them and on the other hand in these teach. The most reason of the foundation of the jail is social peace and social reformers, reprisal, crippling, discouragement, and recovery.

Reprisal implies discipline for wrongdoings against society. Denying hoodlums of their opportunity may be a way of making them pay an obligation to society for their wrongdoings. Debilitation alludes to the expulsion of criminals from society so that they cannot hurt blameless individuals. Discouragement implies the avoidance of future wrongdoing. It is hoped that jails give notices to people considering approximately committing violations, which the plausibility of planning to jail will dishearten individuals from breaking the law.
