Abstract

Baba Guru Nanak laid the foundation of Sikhism and he was attracted towards clergy from the beginning. He believed in monotheism, the world hereafter, and penalty and punishment and all these believes are inclined towards Islam more than Hinduism. The concept of “ONKAR” was given by Guru Nanak which revolves around the oneness of Guru (God) and Sikhism is concurrent with Islam in the concept of the opposition of Idolatry and prophethood of Muhammad (SAW). Sikhism and Islam have a lot of communal themes in alike as interdiction of drugs, exclusion of class system, the establishment of worship centers, and likeliness towards veil. Nanak also spent time in the converse of Ulama and Sofia including Baba Fareed Shakar Ganj and he was inspired by Molana Roomi. From the teachings of Baba Nanak and the religious book of Sikhism (Guru Granth), it is evident that he has acquired basic religious ethics and social forms from Islamic sharia.
