Abstract

In the 2nd century of Hijra, the Rebellion against the negation of Hadith crop up and the land of Iraq was its epicenter. The rebels started calling themselves the beholders of the Holy Quran in a loud and clear voice. Then the Kharjites and Mu’tazillah rebels claimed against the negation of Hadith. According to Moulana Modudi, “The point of view of rebels was that Muhammad (PBUH) had been appointed to deliver the Holy Quran to us and he completed his task quite effectively and efficiently. Moreover, Muhammad (PBUH) who was the son of Abdullah was a common man like them. Whatever he said and performed afterward how can it be binding for us?” In Subcontinent, this rebellion was started by Abdullah Chakralvi. He was sitting leisurely on his bed when he announced: “Whatever we read and understood through the Holy Quran was the last word for us.” Aslam J. Rajpuri added fuel to the fire in the hearts of the believers of the Prophet (PBUH) by hurting their religious sentiments.

Afterward, Ghulam Ahmed Pervaiz was an ardent enemy of the Prophet (PBUH) who poured venom into the hearts and minds of the believers through his monthly magazine “Talu-e-Islam”. The Rebellion against the negation of Hadith had some potent factors like fake inspiration from the spirit and basic teachings of Islam, the dominance of rationalism, and acquisition of worldly wealth and fame. While the conspiracy of the British blind following of the Orientalists and inclusion of Non-Arab ideas in Islamic teachings were some of the external factors in this Rebellion. All these factors have been highlighted in-depth in the under-discussion essay.
